Man Charged After Ring Camera Captures Threats Toward Ex-Boyfriend

Date:

KEARNEY, Neb. — A Kearney man is facing multiple charges after police say he was caught on a Ring doorbell camera making aggressive and sexually-charged remarks toward his ex-boyfriend during an early morning confrontation.

Officers responded to a home on West 28th Street shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday when the resident reported his former partner, 27-year-old Marcus Delaney, was outside shouting and attempting to force contact.

According to police, the victim showed them footage of Delaney visibly intoxicated, pounding on the door and yelling threats. In the video, Delaney shouted, “Open this damn door before I show you I still know how to get inside this house!” He also warned, “You think I won’t come through this door? Keep testing me.”

Investigators said Delaney alternated between threats and sexual taunts, telling the victim, “Don’t play scared now — you didn’t act like this when you were calling me last week,” and, “You know exactly why you’re hiding. You know nobody else does you like I do.”

Police noted that Delaney leaned into the camera at one point, slurring, “You miss me, and you know it. Stop acting brand new before I remind you why you kept letting me back in.”

The victim told officers he has dealt with similar behavior from Delaney in the past, adding that he becomes “bold, reckless, and obsessive” when intoxicated.

Delaney was still at the scene when officers arrived and was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Buffalo County Jail on charges of harassment, stalking, and making terroristic threats. His court date is set for next week.

Police said no injuries occurred, and the investigation is ongoing.
