FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a string of assaults and indecent-exposure incidents reported along the Washington & Old Dominion Trail and nearby locations, according to Fairfax County police.
Investigators say the first incident occurred on Oct. 30, when a person riding a bike was tackled off the trail by an individual who immediately fled the area. Days later, on Nov. 1, a suspect claiming to be hotel security entered a room near Sunset Hills Road, exposed himself to those inside, and left before authorities arrived.
On Nov. 9, officers were called back to the W&OD Trail near Hunter Mill Road after a suspect attempted to strike a person walking there and stole a phone from another individual. Police located the suspect on the trail a short time later and took him into custody on charges of simple assault and larceny.
The investigation continued even after his release. On Nov. 11, a person shopping at North Point Village Center reported being touched inappropriately inside a store. Surveillance video identified the same individual as the suspect. Officers arrested him again on Nov. 15.
Detectives have since linked him to multiple cases and charged him with indecent exposure, assault, and trespassing related to the earlier incidents. He is currently being held without bond.
Authorities believe additional victims may not yet have come forward and are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Fairfax County Police Department.
