MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — A security guard was arrested after police say he fired multiple shots at his ex’s car while he was on duty, according to an affidavit released this week.
Police responded to a report of gunfire after the victim alerted authorities that their former partner, identified as 25-year-old Kedread Fleming, shot at their vehicle shortly after being dropped off at Fleming’s workplace. Officers said shell casings were found at the scene.
Investigators reported that Fleming was in uniform and working as a security guard at the time of the incident. Surveillance footage from the property appeared to corroborate the victim’s account, showing Fleming approach the vehicle before shots were fired.
No injuries were reported. It is unclear whether the victim was inside the vehicle during the shooting, but police said the car was struck.
Fleming was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault and employment-related weapons violations. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
The security company that employed Fleming has not publicly commented on the incident. Police have not released further details about what led to the confrontation.
Fleming is being held pending a court appearance.
