ALLENTOWN, Pa. — An Allentown man has been charged with multiple felonies after authorities say he attempted to meet a child for sexual contact following online communications with an undercover investigator.
Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that Kristien Diaz, 31, was arrested after arranging a meeting with someone he believed to be a 12-year-old child. Investigators said the online conversations were actually conducted with an undercover agent assigned to the Attorney General’s Child Predator Section.
According to court documents, Diaz used electronic messaging to discuss sexual activity and knowingly attempted to meet the child in person. When Diaz arrived at a predetermined location in Lehigh County, he was taken into custody without incident.
Authorities said a review of Diaz’s cellphone confirmed the communications and demonstrated his awareness of the alleged victim’s age.
Diaz is charged with attempted rape of a child, attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, attempted statutory sexual assault, two counts of unlawful contact with a minor, and criminal use of a communication facility. He is also charged with attempted corruption of minors, a misdemeanor.
Bail was set at $500,000 following his arraignment, and Diaz was committed to the Lehigh County Jail. A preliminary hearing is pending.
The case will be prosecuted by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.
