Dayton Person indicted in boyfriend’s fatal stabbing with garden snips

Date:

DAYTON, Ohio — Jerome Walker, 47, also known as Jada Walker, has been indicted on murder and related charges in the death of their boyfriend, 34-year-old Steven Echols, according to authorities.

Police were called just after 7:15 a.m. on Dec. 2 to an apartment on the 1900 block of Elsmere Avenue, where they found Echols suffering from a serious neck injury and Walker holding a towel to the wound. Echols was taken to a hospital and later died from his injuries.

Prosecutors allege Walker stabbed Echols in the neck with a pair of garden snips and then hid the weapon in the kitchen. Walker has been charged with two counts each of murder and felonious assault, as well as tampering with evidence.

Walker is being held at the Montgomery County Jail on a $1 million bond and is scheduled to be arraigned later this month.
