ATLANTA — A recorded message allegedly made by Naquan Palmer, known online as the “DL Whisperer,” is drawing attention and criticism as it circulates across social media ahead of a planned protest in downtown Atlanta.
In the message, Naquan Palmer, the DL Whisperer, claims he is calling from the Gilmer County Jail and urges supporters to attend a demonstration scheduled for May 16 at Centennial Olympic Park. The protest, promoted under the hashtags “#FreeQuan” and “#ProtectRealWomen,” is being framed by Palmer as part of a broader movement to advocate for women’s safety and empowerment.
“Since 2025, my whole mission has been protecting real women,” Palmer says in the recording, alleging that he has been “wrongfully put in jail” in an attempt to silence him. He describes the planned gathering as peaceful and encourages supporters to join what he calls “a movement, not a moment.”
Palmer’s message also includes controversial claims about “secretly gay men” targeting women—language that has sparked backlash online, with critics accusing him of promoting harmful stereotypes and misinformation. Others, however, have rallied behind him, sharing the audio and expressing support for his release.
Authorities have not publicly confirmed details surrounding Palmer’s arrest or the charges that led to his incarceration. It is also unclear whether permits have been secured for the planned protest at Centennial Olympic Park.
Community leaders in Atlanta have urged caution, emphasizing the importance of peaceful assembly while also calling for responsible dialogue. “We encourage people to express their views safely and lawfully,” one local organizer said, “but rhetoric that targets or divides communities can have real consequences.”
The protest is expected to draw both supporters and counter-protesters, as debate surrounding Palmer’s message continues to intensify online.
As of now, no official statement has been released by law enforcement regarding the upcoming event.
