Gay men are attracted to partners with their father’s eye color, according to a new study.

In fact, gay men are twice as likely to have a lover with the same eye color as their biological daddy.

Conducted by the University of Glasgow, it offers an interesting insight into the age-old question: Are we attracted to people like our parents?

The study stated: ‘We found that men’s male partners’ eye color was best predicted by paternal eye color.’

The same connection is found in straight people too, but to a lesser extent.

It seems like Freud’s Oedipus Theory (men are attracted to their mothers) just got even more solid.

The study interviewed 300 people, asking about trends in eye colors for their partner and their parents.

Respondents first answered what color their eyes are from the following options: Black, dark brown, light brown, hazel, green, blue green, blue, and grey. The first three were categorized as ‘dark’ and the last five were categorized as ‘light’. This followed previous work on the subject.

The study is titled Positive Sexual Imprinting for Human Eye Color. Imprinting is any kind of phase-sensitive learning that is rapid and apparently independent of the consequences of behaviour.

Interestingly, the study also found fathers influence male eye color and mothers influence female eye color’s
