A naked man accused of breaking into a luxury Beacon Hill townhouse and smoking what appeared to be crack cocaine on the homeowner’s couch is now being held on $15,000 bail after a bizarre encounter that terrified a Boston family.
According to prosecutors, police responded to a breaking-and-entering call on Myrtle Street around 8:20 a.m. Saturday after a homeowner discovered 28-year-old Jainel Roman inside the residence. The homeowner said he found Roman completely nude, casually sitting on the couch and allegedly smoking from a crack pipe while his children were upstairs in the home.
When the homeowner demanded to know why he was inside the house, Roman allegedly replied, “I’m just hanging out.”
Police said officers later found Roman naked in a second-floor bathroom, seated on a toilet. The homeowner quickly moved his children to safety before calling 911. Authorities say the children were frightened by the incident but did not come into contact with the suspect.
Roman now faces charges including breaking and entering, vandalism, and open and gross lewdness. Prosecutors also revealed he reportedly has a history of violent offenses and previous incidents involving attempts to enter homes. A judge ordered him held on bail and banned him from the Beacon Hill area and from contacting the victims.
