Houston Man Charged With Murder in Death of Transgender Woman Found in Brays Bayou

Date:

A Houston man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of a transgender woman whose body was discovered in Brays Bayou last month.

According to the Houston Police Department, 22-year-old Daniel Arnulfo Ceron has been charged in the death of 33-year-old Persia Amarra Conway.

Authorities say Conway’s body was found on May 25 inside a stormwater catch basin near Brays Bayou and Country Creek Drive in southwest Houston. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene.

Investigators spent weeks gathering evidence before identifying Ceron as a suspect. Police announced that he was taken into custody Wednesday by members of the Houston Police Department’s Westside Division Gang Unit.

Following his arrest, investigators say Ceron confessed to his involvement in Conway’s death.

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences has officially ruled Conway’s death a homicide, confirming that her death was the result of another person’s actions.

Police have not yet released additional details regarding a possible motive or the circumstances leading up to Conway’s death. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and prepare the case for prosecution.

The arrest brings a significant development in a case that has drawn attention throughout the Houston community following the discovery of Conway’s body along the bayou. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information related to the case to contact investigators.

Ceron is expected to face proceedings in Harris County court as the case moves forward through the criminal justice system.
