British-Nigerian businessman and social media influencer Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo, also known online as Denisi or Ego, died at age 43 after suffering complications from a cosmetic penis enlargement procedure in Thailand, according to findings from a London coroner.
Ubiribo died March 6 while vacationing in Bangkok with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen. Details surrounding his death were recently disclosed during an inquest at Inner West London Coroners’ Court. Coroner Jean Harkin determined that Ubiribo died from a pulmonary embolism caused by the cosmetic procedure, according to reports from TMZ and E! News.
According to the inquest, Ubiribo underwent the procedure at an unnamed clinic in Thailand, where approximately 40 milliliters of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine were injected into his penis. Hyaluronic acid fillers are commonly used in cosmetic procedures to add volume to tissue.
Following the procedure, Ubiribo and his wife reportedly went for a massage. During the massage, he began experiencing chest pain and lost consciousness twice. He was transported by ambulance to Sukhumvit Hospital in Bangkok, where he was initially conscious and able to respond to medical staff.
Allen reportedly informed doctors that her husband had recently received the filler injections. Doctors recommended a CT scan, but Ubiribo lost consciousness before the scan could be performed. Medical staff determined that he had suffered a pulmonary embolism, a potentially life-threatening blockage of blood flow to the lungs.
Ubiribo was transferred to intensive care as his condition deteriorated. Medical personnel performed CPR for more than 100 minutes in an effort to revive him, but he died during the early morning hours of March 6.
A postmortem examination conducted in the United Kingdom later found material in his lungs consistent with the hyaluronic acid used during the procedure. Harkin ultimately concluded that the cosmetic treatment caused the fatal pulmonary embolism.
Ubiribo had built a sizable following on social media, where he showcased international travel and an extravagant lifestyle. Reports indicate he had approximately 185,000 Instagram followers. He married Allen, a fashion designer and socialite, in Zimbabwe in 2022.
Ubiribo was laid to rest in London in May. His death has since drawn renewed attention to the potential risks associated with cosmetic penile filler procedures and the serious complications that can occur following injectable treatments.
