Georgia Man Arrested After Firing Gunshots Into Air in Downtown Macon Alley

Date:

MACON, Ga. (AP) — A Macon man has been arrested after authorities say he fired multiple gunshots into the air while walking through a downtown alleyway earlier this week.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Adam Brent McDuffie Jr. was seen firing a gun into the air on March 2 while walking through an alley near Third Street and Cherry Street Lane in downtown Macon. Investigators said the shots were not aimed at any person, vehicle or building.

Authorities said the incident was captured on security camera footage, which helped investigators identify the suspect. Deputies arrested McDuffie the following day and took him into custody without incident.

McDuffie was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center, where he faces several charges, including reckless conduct, discharging a firearm near a public street, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and marijuana possession.

Officials did not report any injuries related to the gunfire. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details about what led to the shooting.

The case remains under investigation.
