Gay Nigerian Content Creator “Arewa” Killed By His Brother After Dispute

Date:

A controversial social media personality known as “Arewa,” who was widely discussed within parts of Nigeria’s underground LGBTQ and gossip communities, has reportedly died after an alleged violent confrontation involving his brother.

According to posts circulating online, Arewa was allegedly burned to death following an argument with his sibling, who is now reportedly missing. Authorities have not publicly confirmed many of the claims spreading across social media, and much of the information currently available comes from online commentators and influencers familiar with the situation.

One outspoken online figure known as “JP Crime Fighter,” who has built a following by exposing alleged scams, blackmail, and conflicts tied to local “kito” activity — a slang term sometimes used in Nigeria to describe schemes targeting LGBTQ individuals — reacted strongly to the news in a lengthy social media post.

In the statement, JP Crime Fighter described Arewa as a feared and controversial figure who allegedly held grudges and threatened members of the community. The post also included sensational claims involving spiritual practices, alleged threats, and accusations that Arewa had attempted to harm rivals through traditional spiritualists known locally as babalawos.

The social media personality claimed Arewa had repeatedly threatened both him and another online figure known as Berry Stars, allegedly promising retaliation against anyone who crossed him. Screenshots and messages referenced in the post have not been independently verified.

The online reaction has been deeply divided. Some commenters expressed shock and sympathy over the gruesome nature of the reported death, while others referenced Arewa’s alleged past behavior and conflicts within the community.

Despite the intense online rhetoric, many users also pointed out that no one deserves to die in such a violent manner, regardless of personal disputes or accusations circulating online.

The story has quickly spread across Nigerian social media platforms, where discussions about spiritual beliefs, online feuds, LGBTQ targeting, and influencer culture frequently generate viral attention. In many West African online spaces, accusations involving babalawos, shrines, curses, and spiritual retaliation are often discussed openly alongside real-world conflicts.

At this time, official details surrounding the incident remain limited, and many of the allegations being shared online have not been confirmed by law enforcement or independent reporting.
