Florida Man Found Passed Out in Traffic—Officer Nearly Struck During Shocking Wake-Up

Date:

BOCA RATON, Fla. — What started as a welfare check on a motionless driver quickly turned into a dangerous close call after police say a man nearly struck an officer moments after being found passed out behind the wheel.

Authorities responded to reports of a vehicle stopped in traffic along Glades Road, where they discovered a man unconscious inside the car. With traffic moving around the scene, the situation already posed a serious risk to other drivers.

But things escalated fast.

According to police, as officers attempted to make contact, the driver suddenly regained consciousness—and in the confusion, nearly hit one of the responding officers with the vehicle.

The officer was able to avoid being struck, preventing what could have been a far more serious incident.

The driver was taken into custody and now faces charges related to the incident. Officials have not released full details on what caused him to lose consciousness.

No injuries were reported, but the near-miss underscores how quickly routine calls can turn dangerous for both law enforcement and the public.

Police continue to warn drivers against getting behind the wheel while impaired or fatigued, stressing that even a moment of inattention can put lives at risk.
