Man Accused of Exposing Himself in Store Dressing Room as Police Probe String of Disturbing Incidents in Austin Area

Date:

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Police in Austin are asking for the public’s help identifying a man accused of exposing himself inside a clothing store dressing room, an incident that authorities say is part of growing concern over recent crime activity in the area.

According to the Austin Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:06 p.m. on March 30 at a clothing store located in the 2500 block of East Sixth Street. Investigators said the man entered the store, selected merchandise and went into a dressing room, where he allegedly left the curtain open and engaged in sexual activity while exposed.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 30 years old, with a large build and a reddish beard and mustache. Police have released images of the man and are urging anyone who recognizes him to contact the department’s Sexual Crimes Unit.

Authorities say the man left the store before officers arrived. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The case comes amid a series of recent incidents reported in the Austin area, including shootings, drug-related arrests and violent threats, according to local reports. In separate cases, police recently arrested multiple suspects following neighborhood complaints involving drugs and firearms, while two teenagers were taken into custody in connection with a fatal shooting at an apartment complex.

Officials have not confirmed whether the indecent exposure case is directly connected to other recent crimes, but they emphasize that public cooperation is critical in identifying suspects and preventing further incidents.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the March 30 incident is asked to contact Austin police or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
