Date:

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. — A rising TikTok personality known to hundreds of thousands of followers as “Girlalala,”Harrison was fatally shot Nov. 14 in Broward County. Harrison was 21.

According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a medical emergency that evening and found Harrison in the front passenger seat of a vehicle with a gunshot wound. Harrison was transported to a nearby hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.

Investigators said the shooting occurred during an argument between Harrison and their boyfriend, Shanoyd Whyte Jr., 20. Whyte was arrested the same night and charged with first-degree murder with a firearm. Authorities have not released further details about what led to the shooting, and court records do not yet list an attorney for Whyte.

Harrison gained prominence on TikTok for hair-styling tutorials, colorful wig installations, and comedic personality-driven content that resonated with a young audience. Their videos regularly drew thousands of views and helped them build a platform of more than 200,000 followers. Harrison also worked as a hairstylist in South Florida, where many fans sought appointments to recreate the looks they showcased online.

News of Harrison’s death spread quickly across social media, prompting waves of grief from followers, fellow creators, and members of the Black LGBTQ+ community who said Harrison’s confidence and creativity made them an inspiration. A fundraising campaign for funeral expenses drew significant support, including notable donations from public figures and influencers.

Several supporters said Harrison’s death has renewed attention on domestic violence, particularly in same-sex and gender-diverse relationships. Advocates note that violence in LGBTQ+ partnerships is often underreported due to stigma, limited resources, and fear of discrimination.

Friends and fans have shared clips of Harrison’s most well-known videos in remembrance, describing them as joyful, outspoken, and devoted to their craft. “They lit up every room,” one supporter wrote in a post shared widely among followers. “They deserved so much more life.”

Whyte remains in custody at the Broward County Main Jail as the investigation continues. A court appearance has not yet been scheduled, according to authorities.

Funeral arrangement details have not been made public.
