Boxer Jo Knockout is facing backlash after deleting a series of posts in which he claimed to have made thousands of dollars by allegedly scamming gay men while making controversial remarks about the LGBTQ+ community.
The controversy began when Jo Knockout posted, “We up 15k in 2 months scamming gay…” followed by a derogatory slur directed at gay men. The post quickly spread across Facebook, drawing hundreds of reactions, comments and shares before it was later deleted.
In the comments, another user wrote, “You ain’t wrong they easy as hell,” to which Jo Knockout replied, “On God, folks know what be going on they just hating,” appearing to double down on his original statement rather than distance himself from it.
Jo Knockout continued posting about gay men throughout the comment thread.
“& these gay… gotta stop with the ‘ugly’ shit,” he wrote. “Y’all know damn well y’all pick a ugly masculine dude over a good looking feminine dude.”
He went on to claim, “Y’all don’t even be liking each other most the time & the trans women get all the [men] y’all be looking at.”
In the same exchange, Jo Knockout identified himself as pansexual, writing, “I’m pansexual with 2 bms I know how y’all operate,” while suggesting that gay men are naturally more attracted to someone with a rough, masculine appearance like his than someone he described as “clean” or “pretty.”
The comments have drawn criticism from LGBTQ+ users and allies, who say the posts rely on harmful stereotypes while appearing to glorify the financial exploitation of gay men. While Jo Knockout claimed to have made $15,000 through the alleged scams, there is no independent evidence that the scams actually occurred, and it remains unclear whether the posts were genuine admissions, exaggerations or attempts to generate engagement.
Although the original post has since been deleted, screenshots continue circulating online, keeping the controversy alive and prompting renewed conversations about scams targeting LGBTQ+ people through social media and dating platforms.
