ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (AP) — A Missouri man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he fired a gun at his girlfriend during a vehicle chase that began with a staged cheating prank.
Police in St. Louis County identified the suspect as 24-year-old Damarion D. Brown, who was arrested following the incident. According to investigators, the situation began when Brown’s girlfriend orchestrated what authorities described as a “cheating prank,” leading Brown to believe she was being unfaithful.
Officials said the misunderstanding quickly escalated into a confrontation, prompting the woman to leave the area in a vehicle. Brown allegedly followed her, initiating a pursuit through local roadways.
During the chase, Brown is accused of firing multiple rounds at or toward the vehicle his girlfriend was driving, authorities said. No injuries were reported, and the woman was able to get to safety.
Law enforcement later located Brown and took him into custody without further incident. He is facing several charges, including unlawful use of a weapon and other offenses related to the shooting. Details about additional charges or court proceedings were not immediately available.
Investigators said the case underscores how quickly situations involving heightened emotions can turn dangerous, particularly when firearms are involved. What began as a prank escalated into a potentially deadly encounter, officials said.
The incident remains under investigation, and authorities have not indicated whether additional charges could be filed.
