Paramedic Charged After Allegedly Urinating on Boss’s Desk, Food at Work

Date:

TOWSON, Md. (AP) — A Maryland paramedic has been charged with multiple criminal counts after authorities allege he contaminated his workplace with his bodily fluids, including urine, prosecutors said.

Christopher Carroll, 36, a suspended paramedic with the Baltimore County Fire Department, faces 23 charges related to workplace contamination and malicious destruction of property, according to court documents and law enforcement officials. Carroll was denied bail Thursday during a hearing in Towson District Court.

Prosecutors told the judge Carroll recorded himself in uniform at work intentionally leaving bodily fluids in a range of locations, including a supervisor’s keyboard, a communal coffee creamer in a refrigerator and a pot of chili on a stove at the Public Safety Building in Towson and Fire Station 2 in Pikesville. Videos introduced by prosecutors showed Carroll urinating into an ice maker, mixing the urine into the ice and giving a thumbs-up gesture to the camera, officials said.

Additional allegations include contamination of a carton of orange juice, bathroom hand soap, another employee’s personal items and air-conditioning vents, prosecutors said. Authorities allege Carroll posted the videos online on subscription websites in an effort to profit from them.

Defense attorney Seth Okin told the court he could not explain his client’s actions and noted Carroll has no prior criminal history. Carroll voluntarily surrendered to police earlier this week after traveling from Pennsylvania with his father, who declined to comment on the case.

Carroll’s next court date has not been scheduled, and prosecutors did not immediately respond to requests for further comment.
