Quinton Simmons, a 31-year-old popular internet personality known online as “Jacques Carter” and affectionately called “Pookie” by his family, was found dead early Friday morning along Interstate 35 near downtown San Antonio, authorities confirmed.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers responded around 12:50 a.m. Friday to the northbound lanes of I-35 near West César E. Chávez Boulevard after receiving reports of a person lying in the roadway.
A preliminary police report stated the man was found “with apparent broken bones.” Firefighters arrived shortly afterward and pronounced him dead at the scene.
On Sunday evening, the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Simmons. The medical examiner ruled his cause of death as blunt force injuries.
Police have not publicly confirmed whether Simmons was struck by a vehicle, and no arrests have been announced. The investigation remains ongoing.
Brother Speaks Out
Simmons’ brother, Chadwick Simmons, shared the news publicly, saying his younger brother was hit and killed around 1 a.m. in the downtown construction zone along I-35 and left in the roadway.
“The individual that hit him didn’t have the decency to stop,” Chadwick Simmons wrote. “My brother didn’t deserve to die this way.”
He described the pain the loss has caused their family and called on whoever may be responsible to come forward.
Simmons had built a following online under the name “Jacques Carter,” where he connected with friends and supporters across social media. His sudden death has left many in shock, with tributes continuing to pour in.
Investigation Continues
Authorities have not indicated whether the case is being formally investigated as a hit-and-run. Detectives are continuing to gather evidence and review the circumstances surrounding Simmons’ death.
