A Tennessee man has been charged with murder after authorities say a Georgia man—who previously faced charges related to soliciting a child online—was found shot to death in Walker County.
According to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a welfare check at a home on Gilbert Street in Rossville, Georgia, where they discovered 38-year-old Robin Fredale Sutton dead from a gunshot wound. Investigators with the sheriff’s office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation quickly launched a homicide investigation.
Authorities later identified 28-year-old Jermaine Matthew Jackson, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, as the suspect in the killing. Detectives tracked Jackson to a residence on South Howell Avenue in Chattanooga, where he was taken into custody and transported to the East Ridge Police Department for questioning. A murder warrant was later issued in Walker County.
Jackson is currently being held in Hamilton County, Tennessee, and is expected to be extradited to Georgia to face the murder charge.
Records show Sutton had previously been booked into the Walker County Jail in March 2024 on a charge of using a computer service to seduce, solicit, lure, or entice a child, according to an arrest listing published by The Georgia Gazette that included Sutton’s mugshot and booking details.
Authorities have not said whether Sutton’s prior criminal case played any role in the events leading up to the fatal shooting.
The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue working to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing.
