Horse Sent Flying in Uptown Charlotte Crash as Brothers Face Charges After Wild Street Ride

Date:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Two brothers have been charged after a chaotic incident in uptown Charlotte in which a horse they were riding was struck by a car, according to police.

Authorities identified the men as 27-year-old brothers Desmon Moore and Deven Moore. Both were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, along with resisting, delaying and obstructing a police officer, police records show.

The incident occurred near the intersection of East Seventh Street and North College Street, where video captured a horse galloping through traffic before being hit by a vehicle. Footage shows the animal being clipped by a car, sending it spinning into the air before landing on the roadway.

According to witness video, the brothers had been riding horses in the area moments before the crash. At one point, one of the men appeared to stand on top of a horse before falling off, after which the animal ran loose into the street. The two men were then seen chasing after it as it moved toward the intersection.

Police said both men became combative after officers arrived on the scene. Arrest affidavits state that one brother attempted to fight another individual, while the other resisted officers and refused to provide his name.

Officials said the charges filed do not specifically relate to the horse being struck.

The horse appeared to get up after the collision, though authorities have not released detailed information about its condition.

The incident, which was captured on video and widely shared online, has drawn attention across the Charlotte area and raised concerns from animal advocates about the risks of riding horses in busy urban environments.
