The Facebook post that captivated thousands online appears to have either been deleted or made private after rapidly spreading across social media.
The post, shared by a woman identified as Kim Simmons, claimed she discovered her late husband had allegedly been involved in a secret affair with his best friend for the entirety of their 25-year marriage. According to the post, Simmons made the discovery while going through her husband’s belongings after he was killed in a car accident.
Attached to the post was what appeared to be an aged Polaroid photograph showing the two men embracing in a bedroom. Simmons also claimed she uncovered letters, photos, and text messages that suggested the relationship had been ongoing for decades. The alleged affair partner was not only her husband’s best friend, but also the best man at their wedding.
“25 years of betrayal,” the post began. “After burying my husband I find out he’s been having an affair with his best friend, the best man from our wedding…”
Screenshots of the post quickly spread across Facebook, TikTok, X, and Reddit, where users debated everything from the emotional impact of the revelation to whether the story itself was authentic. Many commenters focused on the haunting idea of discovering a completely different version of someone’s life only after their death.
The story gained additional attention because Simmons claimed the friend stopped responding to her calls after the discovery was made.
However, users attempting to revisit the original Facebook post now report that it is no longer publicly viewable. It is unclear whether the post was deleted entirely or simply changed to private visibility settings after the overwhelming online attention.
Despite the original post seemingly disappearing, screenshots continue circulating widely across social media, where the story has become one of the platform’s most discussed viral relationship posts of the week.
