Woman Nearly Dies Trying to Hide Meth During Jail Booking—Deputies Forced to Pull Bag From Her Throat

Date:

An Indiana woman is facing a long list of serious charges after what authorities describe as a dangerous and desperate attempt to hide drugs during the booking process nearly turned fatal.

According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, the 37-year-old woman was being processed into jail when deputies noticed she began acting erratically and appeared to be in distress. What initially looked like routine intake quickly escalated into a medical emergency when she started struggling to breathe and reportedly mouthed the words, “pull it out.”

Deputies acted fast. One officer reached into her mouth and removed a baggie containing roughly 10 grams of methamphetamine, likely preventing a deadly outcome.

The incident underscores a recurring issue law enforcement agencies face: suspects attempting to conceal drugs internally during arrest or booking. In this case, that decision could have cost her life.

Originally arrested on charges including theft and possession of drug paraphernalia, the situation escalated dramatically after the discovery. She now faces multiple additional charges, including trafficking with an inmate, dealing methamphetamine, possession of meth, possession of paraphernalia, shoplifting, and court-ordered confinement.

She is currently being held in the Vanderburgh County Jail.

Cases like this highlight the high-risk behavior often associated with drug possession arrests. Trying to conceal substances in the body—especially in a high-stress environment like a jail intake—can quickly turn into a life-threatening situation. In this instance, quick action by deputies likely prevented a tragedy, but it also added significant legal consequences for the suspect.

It’s a blunt reminder: decisions made in a few seconds—especially under pressure—can follow someone for years.
