DC Black Pride 2026: The Ultimate Guide to Every Major Party, Event, Cookout, Ball, Brunch and Rooftop Happening Memorial Day Weekend

Washington, D.C. is once again turning into the center of Black LGBTQ culture as tens of thousands of people arrive for , the country’s most historic and influential Black Pride celebration. Running May 21–25, this year’s theme is “New Black Renaissance,” with organizers promising a weekend centered around Black queer culture, nightlife, wellness, ballroom, music, drag, activism, and community.

Founded in 1991, DC Black Pride helped launch the modern Black Pride movement nationwide and remains one of the largest Black LGBTQ gatherings in the world. Memorial Day weekend in D.C. now blends official programming, underground ballroom culture, celebrity-hosted nightlife, rooftop day parties, house music events, drag brunches, and massive circuit-style parties stretching from U Street to Dupont, Ivy City, and downtown hotels.

Thursday, May 21 — Kickoff Night

The weekend officially begins Thursday evening as visitors pour into the city and the first wave of nightlife events starts.

One of the biggest opening parties is the DC Black Pride Kickoff Rooftop Party hosted by Xavier Entertainment at Nellie’s Sports Bar from 8:30 p.m. until 2 a.m. The event doubles as pass distribution for one of the largest independent Black Pride party circuits of the weekend.

Comedy fans are also expected at the DC Black Pride Comedy Show hosted by comedian Anthony Oakes.

Ballroom culture also begins Thursday night with voguing and ballroom-centered events promoted heavily across social media and Reddit discussions surrounding the weekend.

The nightlife-heavy “Supreme Fantasy” event series also launches Thursday, advertising five straight days of parties, rooftop events, afterhours, and day functions across D.C. venues.

Friday, May 22 — Official Opening Day

Friday marks the official opening day of DC Black Pride 2026.

The centerpiece event is the Official Opening Reception at the host hotel, The Westin Washington DC Downtown, where Grammy-nominated artist Durand Bernarr is scheduled to headline.

Throughout the afternoon and evening, attendees are expected to move between:

Saturday is widely considered the biggest day of DC Black Pride weekend.

Monday, May 25 — Memorial Day Finale

The final day of DC Black Pride closes with community-centered events before one last round of nightlife.

The official Pride in the Park gathering serves as the weekend’s communal closing event with music, vendors, outdoor socializing, and performances.

Monday night also includes major finale parties, including:

One of the larger closing parties promoted online is the “Man Hunt Rooftop Party” at Ivy City Smokehouse.
