“They Didn’t Realize Police Were Watching”: Two Men Arrested During March 2 Sting at Las Vegas Park

Date:

LAS VEGAS — March 2, 2026 — What appeared to be a routine day at a popular Las Vegas park quickly turned into a police operation after officers say they caught two men in the act during a targeted patrol prompted by ongoing community complaints. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers were conducting enforcement activity at Sunset Park when they allegedly observed two adult men engaging in what investigators described as open or gross lewdness in a public area near walking trails and wooded sections of the park.

Police identified the men as 32-year-old Adrian Vega and 31-year-old Marcus Hale. Both were taken into custody without incident and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on misdemeanor charges related to public indecency. Authorities said the patrols were part of a broader response to repeated complaints from residents who have raised concerns about ongoing inappropriate behavior in more secluded areas of the park, particularly after hours but also in locations visible from public pathways.

Sunset Park, one of the largest and most heavily visited parks in Clark County, features picnic areas, sports fields, and a popular walking path that draws families and recreational visitors throughout the day. Despite its reputation as a community hub, portions of the park have long been viewed by some residents as informal meeting areas for anonymous encounters, leading to periodic calls for increased enforcement. Nearby residents have continued to voice frustration about activity occurring in spaces that are otherwise intended for public use, especially when those activities are visible to others using the park.

Law enforcement officials say this type of targeted patrol is part of a broader pattern of enforcement across the Las Vegas Valley. In recent months, similar operations have led to significant numbers of arrests tied to sex-related offenses. A multi-agency operation conducted in late 2025 resulted in more than 100 arrests and citations over the course of several days, while other targeted stings in 2025 led to additional arrests ranging from single digits to more than a dozen suspects in short-term enforcement efforts. These operations have focused on a range of offenses, including public indecency, solicitation, and crimes involving online communication, reflecting what authorities describe as a continued effort to respond to community concerns and deter illegal activity in public and online spaces.

Police indicated that increased patrols at Sunset Park will continue as complaints persist. Officials also emphasized that engaging in sexual conduct in public spaces is a violation of Nevada law and can result in arrest, fines, and possible jail time. The case involving Vega and Hale remains under review, and authorities have not indicated whether any additional charges could be filed.
