GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A man was arrested in Gainesville after authorities said he exposed himself and recorded unsuspecting people along a popular recreational trail, according to police.
Officers with the Gainesville Police Department said the incidents occurred along the city’s Rails-to-Trails corridor, a well-traveled path used by pedestrians and cyclists. Investigators allege the man deliberately targeted individuals in public areas, exposing himself while using a device to film the encounters.
According to an arrest report, officers were alerted after receiving complaints from multiple մարդիկ who reported suspicious and inappropriate behavior along the trail. Witnesses told police the suspect appeared to be recording them without consent while engaging in lewd conduct.
Police later identified and located the suspect, who was taken into custody without incident. Authorities said evidence collected during the investigation, including electronic devices, supported the allegations.
The man is facing charges related to exposure of sexual organs and video voyeurism, both of which are criminal offenses under Florida law.
Officials have not released additional details about the victims but emphasized that incidents like these can have a lasting impact on those involved.
Police are asking anyone who may have encountered similar behavior or who has additional information to come forward as the investigation remains ongoing.
